Children's Portrait Photographer of the year !!!

25th April 2018
Yaaaayyy !!!

What can I say , myself and Ali are absolutely delighted to announce that at the Master Photographers Association Scottish Region (the largest in the UK) we won Children's Portrait Photographer of the Year.

There we were , me with my dad's cuff links and 61 year old watch on for good luck... Ali all posh too... wondering what would happen with our 3 finalist photos.

The first one up, in the family category was the shot of Lauren & Hamish - it got a Merit.
Then Classical Portrait category... and the photo of ballet dancer Alex won another Merit award...

Then Children's category came up , with some gorgeous photos, and who won ? Us !! The photo of Leon !
When we took that - he'd actually came in for an outdoor shoot, but when we saw what he was wearing we did a quick 5 minutes inside, and we knew they were special.
We've started to collect quite a bit of glassware now , and it drives us both on to do better , and give all our clients something they will cherish forever.

This was all after the AGM, then a brilliant talk and presentation by top UK wedding photographer Simon John. He really shows how wedding photography can and should be more than just turning up and collecting bland on the day photos - something we've been striving to do for a few years now - maybe one day to the same level as Simon's.

Then before dinner, another amazing presentation by Master Photographer Fellowship - James Musselwhite - on how and why all photographers that are serious should stick to a professional body like glue and go through all the qualification processes to become a better photographer.

The MPA really does know how to excite photographers and the Scottish Region - in my opinion - leads the way.

Over 800 entries into this years competition. S to win two Merits and be top Children's Portrait Photographer is a huge honour that we will not just use to fill a shelf, but use it to show we are learning every day to get better.

Massive thank you to the 4 people in these shots, and to all our clients for supporting us.

We'll be cheesing about this for ages.

And if you are a budding photographer - join the MPA and go through the qualification process... it makes such a difference to your experience and knowledge.
